The competition for PUBG has been steep as Fortnite, another popular battle royale game, is also now available for Android phones. And, to keep the players hooked to PUBG, a new leak brings to users the much-awaited 0.9.0 update. Some of the newer features of PUBG 0.9.0 have been available on the beta version for a while now. It is, however, important to note that this update will not pop up as a regular update since it has not been officially announced. But you can download the update file from the internet. Here’s everything you need to know about the PUBG Mobile 0.9.0 update.

1. Night Mode

The much-awaited Night Mode will finally come to the Erangel map with the new PUBG update. The map will randomly switch between day and night. While this may seem like a good thing as you will have the darkness to cover your tracks, it’ll also be difficult for you to spot other players.

2. Night Vision Goggles

To play in the night mode you’re going to need night vision goggles. Conveniently, PUBG has devised the Night Vision Goggles that light up your surroundings with a green tinge and help improve your vision.

3. Halloween theme

Since Halloween is just around the corner, Spawn Island — the place where you wait before getting on the plane — will get a Halloween makeover. Your avatar will be able to interact with other players by picking up pumpkins and candy. Getting to the game, if you kill a player using the Hellfire AKM, they will turn into a scarecrow. Other cool effects would be that when a grenade explodes, a spooky face will be created with the smoke. In addition, during this period, you may have a 50 per cent more chance to play in the Night Mode. You can even earn candies through a lucky draw and win some Halloween-exclusive vehicle finishes.

4. New Gun

No PUBG update is complete without a brand new killing machine. And this time players will get to get their hands on the QBU – DMR. This gun uses 5.56mm bullets and comes as a replacement to the Mini14. It can fire 10 rounds in its default mode and with an Extended Magazine, you can shoot upto 20. This gun will only be exclusive to the Sanhok map.

5. New Vehicle

Another addition exclusive to the Sanhok map is the Rony pickup truck. It can seat two people in the front and the open back can accommodate another two. The 0.9.0 update, some cars will now come with music player in them. And a much-needed break button will also be available.

6. FPP improvement

Anybody who plays PUBG in the First Person Perspective (FPP) knows that while driving, you go back to being on Third Person Perspective (TPP). The 0.9.0 update fixes that with views for the driver and passenger in FPP, while also improving the interiors of the cars.

7. Matchmaking

PUBG will now give you the option to be paired with a player who speaks your language making the matching process a lot faster

8. Clothes

PUBG’s 0.9.0 update will also now let you customize your clothes. While buying an outfit, you will now have a variety of colours and logos to choose from. You can even pick customisable outfits for your squad.

9. Crates

If you’re somebody who doesn’t spend money to buy something on PUBG, the free crates are your best friend. But because everything comes with a catch, the stuff in the free crate usually sucks and is repetitive. So to fix that, the 0.9.0 update’s free crates will also have a ton of rare stuff.

10. Crew Challenge

Leaders can now register their squads for the Crew Challenge Tournament. This will comprise three stages ie the qualification, groups and Finals. For now, the size of your squad is limited to six players. Winning teams will receive a lot of rewards. In addition, playing the crew challenge will earn you Challenge Coins, a new currency that comes with the 0.9.0 update. You can exchange this to shop for items.

11. Room

You will now have the option to buy an advanced room card that allows the creator to set weapons, attachments, playzone shrink speed and other parameters. In addition you can now play on the Miramar and Sanhok map in the room on FPP. Players will also be allowed to invite other players to the rooms. The entrances to the rooms, as well as the training grounds, will now be seen on the main menu.

12. Grenades

While a grenade is triggered, a player will now be able to switch between standing, crouching or lying down. While throwing the grenade, a player can also pick between throwing it overhand or underhand and can even throw it while standing sideways. Frag grenades will now cause more damage and will make the player caught in the explosion’s ears ring. The Molotov cocktails can now go through wooden doors, while causing more damage. Whereas the stun grenades will now impact a bigger frontal area, with the whiteout effect being improved.

Here are other features with the PUBG 0.9.0 update:

  • An added action will allow players to stand while their motorcycle is airborne.
  • Bullet spread accuracy will reduce while crouching and increase while you are stationary.
  • The recoil on the AKM has been reduced
  • Light grips can now improve recoil recovery and stability.
  • The QBZ and QBU will have new magazine attachments
  • Some improvements have been made in the way you see things in FPP and TPP
  • A Halloween theme and background music in the main menu.
  • The 0.9.0 update also has some improvements in the team mode. It will fulfill the killing conditions of an achievement if the enemy is killed by themselves or their team mates.
  • There will now be a limit to the number of scopes a player can pick up

In addition to all these new features there have been plenty of bug fixes and improvements made in the 0.9.0 update of PUBG Mobile. The official version is expected to go live by October 26, 2018, but the leaked version is doing the rounds on the internet right now. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all these updates, don’t forget that PUBG is still an incomplete games, and a lot more impressive updates are to follow. Chase that Chicken Dinner.
