New facility for EPFO subscribers: PPOs, UAN cards available on DigiLocker

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) said that Pension Payment Order (PPO) and Universal Account Number (UAN) numbers are now available on the government’s e-locker service DigiLocker. “PPOs and UAN cards is now available on DigiLocker,” the retirement fund body said in a tweet.

EPFO subscribers can now download their UAN, PPO through DigiLocker. This will enable large number of pensioners and PF members to download their documents and avail timely benefits.


UAN is important for salaried employees as it helps them keep track of their various Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts. PPO number is a unique 12-digit number that helps pensioner receive their pension. Further, while submitting life certificate, it is important to mention this PPO number.

What is a DigiLocker?

The DigiLocker account allows you to store the scanned copies of all your documents on the cloud and provides access to these when required. While you have to provide your 12-digit Aadhaar number to open the account.

How to access UAN/PPO number from DigiLocker?

-Go to

-Log in to your account by clicking on ‘Sign In’.

-Enter your Aadhaar/Username.

-Enter the OTP sent on your mobile number. Click on ‘Submit’.

-Enter the 6-digit security PIN, then click on ‘Submit’.

-Now click on ‘Issued Documents’.

-A new page will appear. Click on ‘Get more issued documents.’

-Under the ‘Central Government’ tab, click on ‘Employees Provident Fund Organization’.

-A new page will open on your screen. Click on UAN and enter your UAN number and click on ‘Get Document’.

The data will be saved in the issued documents section. From there, you can download the UAN card in PDF form.

How to use DigiLocker

-Go to DigiLocker website or downloand DigiLocker app on your smartphone. Using your Aadhaar number and mobile number you can create a user ID using an OTP.

-If some organisation has uploaded any of your e-documents, you can see it in the account

-You can also upload your own documents and e-sign them.
