BSNL has some sad news for its lifetime subscribers. The state owned telecom operator has now discontinued all of its lifetime prepaid plans across the country. The company does not state any reason behind this but it has a solution for existing customers of these plans. Lifetime prepaid customers will be migrated to the ₹107 premium per minute plan.
The lifetime prepaid plan subscribers upon migration will not have access to any of the freebies. The migration will happen starting December 1, says BSNL. The ₹107 plan will be activated for these subscribers, which offers a validity period of 90 days. However, the benefits are not as enticing as the lifetime plans that are set to be axed.
BSNL lifetime plan subscribers to get new plan
If you are a BSNL lifetime prepaid plan customer, you should know the benefits that come bundled with the ₹107 premium per minute plan. There are benefits regarding data, calls and messages.
The ₹107 plan offers a total validity of 90 days and subscribers will get unlimited incoming calls. The data allotment is of 10GB capacity and that can be accessed for 30 days only. Despite being a per minute plan, BSNL is bundling a total of 100 minutes of outgoing calls that can only be accessed for 24 days.
In terms of freebies, BSNL customers will be entitled to free BSNL default tunes for a period of 60 days. Other associated benefits with the plan include 3GB free data that will hold valid for a period of 84 days. The 100 minutes free voice calling will be valid for calls to any network.
However, note that migrated users will not be able to access these freebies and benefits.
This change in the BSNL prepaid plans comes at a time when other telecom operators are increasing prices of their prepaid plans. Vodafone Idea and Airtel have increased the prices of their prepaid plans by a substantial margin in a bid to boost the revenue per user. Jio, on the contrary, is yet to announce any increase in its prepaid plans
